The automotive world is abuzz with anticipation as the 2025 BMW M5 Touring nears its unveiling.
Recent spy shots near Germany’s Nürburgring reveal a prototype shedding its camouflage, offering a glimpse of its design. The front end, now fully exposed, mirrors its sedan counterpart that debuted in June.
From grille to air intakes, the M5 Touring’s face is identical to the sedan. However, the rear showcases unique taillights and a tailgate reminiscent of the sedan’s trunk lid. The quad exhaust system and aggressive diffuser remain consistent across both body styles.
This high-performance wagon targets affluent families craving speed and practicality. It boasts exclusive 21-inch wheels, upgraded chassis, and enhanced brakes for superior handling. Special color options and interior touches are expected to set it apart from the standard 5 Series Touring.
While there are no official details on the car yet, below are some findings that others are saying may shape the touring model.
Under the hood lies a plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor. Total output is an impressive 717 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. While slightly heavier than its sedan sibling, the M5 Touring should still sprint to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds.
This is a big upgrade from the original BMW M5 Touring that was launched back in 1992. The E34 was filled with luxury and packed a whopping 340 hp in a 6-cylinder engine.
BMW will unveil full details their newest touring vehicle at the 2024 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
BMW is also offering a one of a kind BMW M5 sedan for auction at the event.
As stated on their website, “The 2025 BMW M5 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance #1/1 is the result of an ambitious collaboration between BMW M, BMW Individual and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance®. It will be the first seventh-generation BMW M5 to be delivered on American soil. The high-performance sedan is a fascinating derivative characterized by exclusive paintwork, materials and upholstery colours, wheels and tailor-made interior details that make this M5 absolutely unique.”
Production of the BMW M5 Touring is slated to begin in November at the Dingolfing plant, with US deliveries starting in spring 2025. Pricing is expected to land at around $150,000 for loaded models.
As the reveal approaches, enthusiasts eagerly await more information on performance specs and how it will stack up against competitors.
The M5 Touring’s arrival marks BMW’s return to the high-performance wagon segment in the US market, sparking excitement among automotive enthusiasts.
