In a bold move that’s turning heads in both automotive and cycling circles, Ford Motor Company has unleashed its latest venture: a line of electric bicycles inspired by two of its most iconic vehicles.
This isn’t just another corporate cash-grab; it’s a signal that the e-bike revolution is shifting into high gear.
For decades, Ford has been the epitome of American automotive prowess. Now, they’re proving they can dominate on two wheels as well. The automotive giant has partnered with N+, a company known for crafting e-bikes for other high-profile brands like Mercedes AMG and McLaren, to create these pedal-powered powerhouses.
Mustang E-Bike
Let’s start with the Mustang e-bike. This isn’t your grandfather’s cruiser. Priced at $4,000, it’s a full-suspension beast that promises to deliver the same thrill as its four-wheeled namesake.
The standard color is called Carbonized Gray Metallic, but for an additional $390 you can choose from 10 other colors. Yellow option is shown below.
It is also available in small, medium, and large sizes so you can get a perfect fit for your height.
With a 750W hub-mounted motor churning out 85 Nm of torque, this Class 3 Mustang e-bike can hit speeds up to 28 mph. That’s enough to leave your average cyclist in the dust.
But speed isn’t everything.
The Mustang e-bike boasts a range of up to 60 miles on a single charge. While that figure might be optimistic, even a conservative estimate puts you well ahead of the pack.
To celebrate Ford’s 60th anniversary, they also have a limited quantity anniversary edition of the Mustang e-bike.
The bike features a sleek, integrated cockpit with a full-color LCD panel, four-piston hydraulic brakes, and Pirelli tires. It’s clear Ford isn’t horsing around with this entry into the e-bike market.
If the Mustang e-bike is impressive, the Bronco version is downright intimidating.
Bronco E-Bike
Priced at $4,500, this two-wheeled terror blurs the line between e-bike and motocross machine. The bike is shown below in the standard color called Area 51, optional colors are available for an additional $390.
The Bronco is only available in one size and states it can accommodate riders between 5’4″ and 6’5″.
The Bronco e-bike shares the same 750W motor as its stable mate but cranks up the torque to a whopping 85 Nm. That’s more twist than some compact cars!
The e-bike takes inspiration with Bronco’s G.O.A.T. ™ (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) suspension and is clearly built for off-road adventures.
It sports Pirelli Scorpion Enduro M tires and a rugged frame that echoes its SUV inspiration. It’s a machine that begs to be taken off the beaten path and pushed to its limits.
Both models feature aluminum frames, Shimano Cues drivetrains, and weigh in at around 67-68 pounds, batteries included. They’re not lightweights, but then again, neither are their motorized counterparts.
Both models feature a full color LCS panel in the handlebars.
You can learn more about both models at Ford Bikes.
Tyler Hill, Ford’s global brand licensing manager, claims these e-bikes will allow riders to experience “the adventurous spirit of a Bronco and the exhilaration of a Mustang from the moment they grip the handlebars.” It’s a bold statement, but given Ford’s track record, they might just deliver on that promise.
This move by Ford isn’t just about selling bikes; it’s a clear indicator of where the market is heading.
As cities become more congested and environmentally conscious, e-bikes are poised to play a significant role in urban transportation. By leveraging their brand power and engineering expertise, Ford is positioning itself at the forefront of this revolution.
Whether you’re a die-hard Ford fan or just someone looking for a high-performance e-bike, these new offerings demand attention. They’re available at select dealerships, offering a chance to experience Ford’s legendary performance in an entirely new way.
Both models come with a 2-year warranty, comply with US e-bike laws and are made to order in 90 days. They are taking orders now, but delivery will be in the fall.
The bikes will be available online or at participating Ford dealers. Some assembly will be required.
The e-bike industry is no longer just for tech startups and niche manufacturers. With giants like Ford entering the arena, it’s clear that the future of transportation is electric, efficient, and exciting. Buckle up, gentlemen – or should we say, clip in – because the ride is about to get interesting.
Fallen Motorcycle Brands That Should Still Be Here
These motorcycle brands had their time in the spotlight – and then faded away. While you may find some of these in museums or for sale somewhere, they are rarely seen. These are the motorcycles brands we wish were still here.
