The ninth annual MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge roared into Pontiac, Michigan on August 10, 2024.
Over 40,000 drag-racing fans flocked to M1 Concourse for a day of high-octane thrills. The event showcased drag racing, drifting, and the worldwide debut of the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona.
New for 2024, the drag racing action moved inside M1 Concourse. This change offered fans a more intimate experience with open, walkable pit areas and closer viewing spots.
The Dodge Direct Connection Grudge Race saw seven drivers competing with Direct Connection HurriCrate engines. Morgan Evans emerged victorious in her 1987 Dodge D150, powered by a new twin-turbo inline-six HurriCrate engine.
Evans made the following statement about his win.
“We worked so hard over the last two months, and I can’t believe we got here and we ended up winning. The truck worked incredibly, and I couldn’t have asked it to do better. We built a 1987 Dodge D150 with the new HurriCrate twin-turbo inline six. I love that thing. I can’t get over how well it performed. It’s twerky, and it spools fast.”
Jimmer Kline defended his title in the Big Tire class, while Mikael Borggren secured another win in the Small Tire category. Each victor took home $5,000, with an additional $5,000 awarded to the fastest Dodge cars in both classes. The event also featured Dodge Drift Rides, the first-ever Dodge Hornet Rally Rides, and the reveal of the Charger Daytona’s Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system.
A pre-party called Sick Powerfest kicked off the festivities on August 9, attracting over 10,000 attendees. This boosted the total weekend turnout to more than 50,000 people. Fans at the pre-party enjoyed Dodge Drift Rides, Hornet Rally Rides, and the World Burnout Championship with a $25,000 prize pool.
The numbers tell the story of how popular this event is.
- 40,000+ attended the main event, an additional 10,000+ attended the Sick Powerfest pre-party
- More than 100 drag race competitors
- Almost 5,000 participants in Dodge Drift and Rally Ride
- 300+ cruise-in cars
“In its ninth year, MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge continues to evolve and get better and better,” said Matt McAlear, Dodge brand CEO – Stellantis. “From the public debut of the all-new Dodge Charger Daytona and its Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system, to the Direct Connection Grudge Race, to first-ever Dodge Hornet Rally Rides and drag-racing action inside M1 Concourse, it was another weekend for the history books for the Dodge Brotherhood of Muscle.”
