Have you been to Miami lately? If so, maybe you were hanging waterside and saw what you thought was a Lamborghini driving on the water.
We are here to tell you that you were not imagining things. And no, that afternoon cocktail was not playing tricks on you.
A floating Lamborghini is a real thing down in those parts. Only it is not a real car, it is basically a jet ski made to look like a car.
The idea itself is not new, it was originally brought to life in Dubai where the elite enjoy these fun supercar jet skis.
But a Miami based company called Watersports Car decided to become the only U.S. manufacturer of these cars. The company designs, builds and tests each car they create. They have stock models as well as the ability to make a custom model made to order.
They are currently available for sale to individuals and businesses.
Watersports cars are powered by either a Yamaha 1.8L high output 180hp or 1.8L supercharged 250hp engine. They can reach speeds up to 60mph and 70mph respectively. There is also a 320 horsepower option in the Series L model.
The boats also feature:
- Adjustable seating
- Detailed corrosion protection interior
- Braker aka kill switch
- Engine room blower to remove fumes
- Navigation lights for night time excursions
The cars are estimated to weight about 1,200 pounds and measure 16.2 feet in length and 6.72 feet in width. The bodies are made of high quality fiberglass and feature special tanned and waxed leather to protect against salt water and UV rays.
They are able to be used in light-weight and shallow water bodies making them perfect for lakes, rivers and coastlines.
No one can deny that this looks a whole lot of fun. Maybe not as fun as a Spacruzzi, but still fun!
There are currently several models available to buyers.
- Series HD Jet Bike features a Harley Davidson style body for the motorcycle enthusiast. It is a 3-seater that can hold up to 750 pounds of weight. Starting price is $27,000,
- Series F is a two-seater model that has the looks that supercar fans will love. It features advanced jet propulsion technology which will give riders a thrill. Starting price is $84,000.
- Series R emulates a Rolls Royce body style and holds 4 people comfortably. This model comes complete with cup holders, blue-tooth stereo, tail lights, headlights and navigation lights. Starting price is $86,000.
- Series L pays tribute to the design of the Lamborghini with all the sexy curves we all know and love. This two-seater features all of the goodies of the Series R. Starting price is $84,000.
- Series X is a two-seater with all the sexy curves you would expect in a super car. High quality racing seat bring the comfort and the windshield wipers will keep that water from getting in your way. Starting price is $66,000.
- Series M comes in a 2 or 4 seater and replicated the luxury of a high priced sedan. The luxurious interior leaves nothing to the imagination. Starting price is $68,000.
- Series B is a four-seater that gives off total Bugatti roadster vibes with its fun yet sporty style. Starting price is $73,000.
- Series I is a two-seater with a body that speed demons will love. The styling is elegant and the performance will leave riders happy. Starting price is $70,000.
If you choose to buy one, they will clearly set you back.
In various places we could find that rent these water jet cars, they were averaging about $100-$300 to rent.
In case you are wondering, no these are not land lubber vehicles. They will need to be towed to your favorite water location.
