The $300,000 Track-Ready Mustang Supercar That Requires An Application

The Mustang GTD is like no other Mustang ever produced. The car was designed by the same people that created the winning Ford GT at Le Mans. The GTD was built to be the fastest Mustang on the road.

Aerodynamics

The GTD features aerodynamic qualities similar to those of the Ford Mustang GT3. No detail was overlooked in creating a car that uses air to improve performance. Every aspect of the car has a purpose, from the front splitter and vented hood to the hydraulically controlled rear wing.

“Our design team worked in conjunction with the Mustang GT3 design team and the aero team, sharing solutions between race car and road car, and vice versa. This is an aerodynamics-driven design,” stated Anthony Colard, Ford Performance design manager.

Carbon fiber body panels are featured throughout the car. These help reduce weight and improve the car’s handling.

A car like this does not need a trunk. So, Mustang used that space for the semi-active suspension, hydraulic control system, and transaxle cooling system. The transaxle cooling system uses a race-inspired cover with two air scoops to funnel off air.

The design team carefully considered every aerodynamic feature to create a car that allows for excellent control and lap times.

Technical

A supercharged 5.2 liters V8 with dual air inlets powers the Mustang GTD. The car is the highest horsepower car ever created by Ford and is actually street-legal. With the right fuel you can expect to reach an estimated 800 horsepower.

The tires make stability and road-gripping seem easy. The front tires measure 325mm in width, while the rear tires measure 345mm. These are mounted on 20-inch forged aluminum wheels or updated to forged magnesium. Magnesium wheels offer a better weight and higher durability. Brembo carbon ceramic brakes minimize heat with the aid of cooling ducts.

Interior

The interior cockpit area also spares no expense. Leather, carbon fiber, and Miko suede create a premium experience. Ford used retired Lockheed Martin F-22 titanium parts to make the paddle and rotary dial shifters.

Several interior color options and packages will be available. The car exterior can be ordered in any color, even matched to your color sample.

The car has a base price of $325,000 for United States applicants

But not everyone will be able to purchase one. Applications for a car are now open for residents of the United States and Canada. The application is only open through May 20, 2024.

Deliveries are not expected until later in the year or possibly 2025. But if you are one of the “chosen ones,” you can expect an experience worthy of the price tag. The Mustang GTD concierge team will hand-deliver the cars to your home.
